Support the Y and Strengthen Your Community
Financial assistance keeps the doors open and the Y available for kids and families who need us most. We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages be more healthy, confident, connected and secure. When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood.
YMCA Strong Kids Campaign
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience YMCA programs, regardless of financial difficulties their family might be facing. YMCA programs such as child care, camping, swim lessons, youth sports and teen leadership programs do more than teach skills; they instill confidence, responsibility, and help young people to be strong in spirit, mind and body. These experiences have a strong impact on kids, helping them grow into healthy, contributing adults.
With your help, no person will be denied the benefits of a YMCA membership based on financial limitations. Through the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, people just like you come together to make their community stronger. Donations to the Strong Kids Campaign allow the YMCA to provide membership and program assistance to kids and families who might not otherwise be able to afford to pay for YMCA services.
The Buddy Program
Members helping members with special needs to exercise. We link member volunteers with members with special needs (autism, cognitive disability, blindness, etc.), who could use a little assistance to navigate the Y and get through a workout. Support may include help in cardio room, guidance in the weight room and pool, or just getting from room to room. Emotional support and encouragement is also a big part of being a Buddy. Buddies are not expected to, or allowed to assist in the locker rooms. Family members must provide any assistance required. The Y will provide training and ongoing support for volunteers. All that is needed is a desire to get involved. Call Robin Mitchell at 973-744-3400 ext.115
