At the YMCA of Montclair, our camps offer children and teens — ages 3 to 14— a safe, exciting, and memory-making experience.
Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character, and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social, and educational activities.
Our camps teach self-reliance and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership, amidst the fun of sports, art, games, outdoor adventure, water activities, and meaningful relationships.
YMCA of Montclair counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. We have a retention rate of approximately 80%. Our staff has been with us for a number of years, and many of our staff have even been campers.
Our staff go through rigorous training with over 20 hours of both online and in-person training, including COVID protocols, and to recognize signs of and prevent child abuse, harassment, and bullying.
Financial assistance is available for those with limited financial resources who desire to send kids to our camps. To be eligible, campers must reside within our service area: Bloomfield, Bloomingdale, Clifton, Cedar Grove, Glen Ridge, Haskell, Hewitt, Montclair, Verona, Wanaque, and West Milford.

FRIEND REQUESTS:
At the YMCA, we dedicate ourselves to youth development. Our camps help build confident, resilient, and happy campers by helping them foster new bonds throughout the summer months. In order to foster new authentic friendships and for the safety of all children to ensure our camper-to-staff supervision ratios, we will not accept friend requests for the camp season. Thank you for your understanding.
