Dear Members:
The night of September 1, the Fullerton Parking Deck was flooded. You may have seen the photos and videos on social media. That rushing water came into our Y. The Lower Lobby, Locker Rooms and Pool took on significant water.
This damage requires professional remediation. The Park Street YMCA will remain closed through Labor Day so that we can clean and sanitize the areas that were impacted.
We will open on Tuesday, September 7 at 5am and resume our normal hours at that time. However, our Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms will remain closed. The carpeting needs to be removed and new carpeting installed. We do not know at this time how long this will take but we will keep you posted.
In the meantime, members are directed to use the following locker rooms:
- Youth and Teen members should continue to use the Boys and Girls Locker Rooms.
- Adult members may use the Boys and Girls locker rooms except for the hours between 4-7pm on Sep 7, 8, and 9. Swim Team tryouts are taking place at that time. This is a child safety issue and we will strictly enforce this rule.
- Adult members may use the All Gender Locker Room and the single Family/All Gender locker rooms.
- Families may continue to use the single Family/All Gender locker rooms.
We suggest that members may also want to plan to arrive and depart in their swimsuits. We want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we recover from this event. Our Geyer Family YMCA programming is proceeding as scheduled.
Our thoughts are with the many in our community who are dealing with flooded basements and damaged property. We want to thank our first responders and municipal employees who worked through the night in response to this historic flooding event. Councilperson Peter Yacobellis has created a fundraiser to help our neighbors. Click the link to learn more: https://www.facebook.com/donate/329189218938400/1971528183008029/
